{"id":13330,"date":"2021-01-21T04:00:38","date_gmt":"2021-01-21T04:00:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/amabhungane.org\/?post_type=stories&amp;p=13330"},"modified":"2021-01-21T04:00:38","modified_gmt":"2021-01-21T04:00:38","slug":"210121-amabhungane-is-hiring","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/further.co.za\/amabwp\/210121-amabhungane-is-hiring\/","title":{"rendered":"AmaBhungane is hiring!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Senior investigative journalist<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We are an independent non-profit newsroom that develops investigative journalism \u2013 a public interest task that promotes free, capable media and open, accountable, just democracy.<\/p>\n<p>We do so via:<br \/>\n<strong>Investigations<\/strong>: Developing best practice by doing stories that are accurate and fair, advance methods and standards, expose wrongdoing and empower people to hold power to account.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Investigations support<\/strong>: Helping others do it too via editorial collaboration and training.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Advocacy<\/strong>: Campaigning, exercising laws and litigating to help secure the information rights \u2013 access to information and media freedoms \u2013 that are the lifeblood of our field.<br \/>\nWe are based in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town and publish via <a href=\"www.amabhungane.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.amabhungane.org<\/a> and a range of publication partners.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Purpose and key deliverable:<\/strong> Develop investigative journalism best practice by producing stories that are accurate and fair, advance methods and standards, expose wrongdoing and empower people to hold power to account.<\/p>\n<p>Any applicant must: have at a strict minimum of five years\u2019 reporting experience and a track record of agenda-setting investigative breaks; have a solid grasp of the ethical and legal requirements of the field; write competently; have a passion for truth, justice and serving the public interest; be a self-motivator who can work independently and in a team; have a drivers\u2019 licence valid in SA.<\/p>\n<p>Attributes that will be a plus: editing expertise; understand financial statements and concepts; online investigative competencies and data management skills; a solid grasp of the digital environment and social media; multilingualism.<\/p>\n<p>The successful applicant will preferably be based in Johannesburg and report to the managing partners.<br \/>\nA competitive remuneration package is offered.
