We publish via <\/i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amabhungane.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s2\"><i>amaBhungane.org<\/i><\/span><\/a><i> and a range of publication partners. We pay our bills from reader contributions \u2013 our amaB Supporters \u2013 and foundational grants.<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">We are looking to appoint a data &amp; digital analyst to work across our digital publication and operating portfolios. The ideal candidate is highly skilled at collecting and managing data from various platforms and interpreting it to inform publication and managerial strategies. The position requires a digitally-savvy innovator who is self-motivated and communicates well.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">This is a new role.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Purpose: <\/b>To provide the team with data and digital support.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Key responsibilities:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><i>Digital publication portfolio \u2013 supporting the team with data and insight to serve and grow our readership<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Gather user and statistical data relevant to our publication platforms (website, email newsletter, WhatsApp, social media) drawing on Google Analytics, Mailchimp, social media insight tools, subscriber records, etc<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Collate, dissect and interpret the data, using appropriate databases\/dashboards, making it accessible and actionable to serve readers better and inform publication strategies<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Assist the digital coordinator with publication processes<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Experiment with and implement new tools and technologies<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">A plus if you can do it: Produce data embeds,\u00a0 visualisations and graphics to accompany investigative stories on our website<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><i>Operating portfolio \u2013 supporting management with data and insight to serve and grow our supporter base<br \/>\n<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Gather potential and existing amaB Supporter data from our digital and giving platforms<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Collate, dissect and interpret the data, using appropriate databases\/dashboards, making it accessible and actionable to facilitate amaB Supporter journeying and experiences, identify trends and inform fundraising strategies<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Generate ideas for and help implement strategies to build our brand<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Assist the operating coordinator with various processes including Supporter stewardship<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><i>Across portfolios<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Conduct online surveys better to know reader and amaB Supporter expectations and feed into the above processes<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Troubleshoot data\/digital emergencies and longer term challenges, working with external service providers where necessary<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Champion innovation<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Skills required:\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Ability to think analytically and solve problems, self-motivate, and work both on your own and in team context<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Proficiency in spreadsheets (MS Excel, Google Sheets) and cloud-based databases (familiarity with customer relations management systems a definite plus)<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Proficiency in or demonstrable ability to master Google Analytics, social media insight tools, Mailchimp, etc<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The successful applicant will preferably be based in Johannesburg; will support the digital and operating coordinators; and will report to the managing partners.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">A competitive remuneration package is offered.
