{"id":4508,"date":"2016-05-30T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2016-05-30T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/amabhungane.org\/amabhungane\/stories\/apology-gemfields-mozambican-ruby-mine\/"},"modified":"2016-05-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2016-05-30T00:00:00","slug":"apology-gemfields-mozambican-ruby-mine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/further.co.za\/amabwp\/apology-gemfields-mozambican-ruby-mine\/","title":{"rendered":"Apology: Gemfields&#8217; Mozambican ruby mine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The press ombud has directed\u00a0<em>Mail &amp; Guardian<\/em>\u00a0to apologise to mining company Gemfields and its Mozambican partner Montepuez Ruby Mining (MRM) for the March 11 2016 story \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/amabhungane.org\/stories\/moz-villagers-digging-for-rubies-shot-and-left-to-die\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Moz villagers digging for rubies &#8216;shot and left to die<\/a>\u2019\u201d and a corresponding editorial \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/amabhungane.org\/stories\/christo-wiese-mila-kunis-and-the-blood-rubies-of-mozambique\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Christo Wiese, Mila Kunis and the blood rubies of Mozambique<\/a>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Gemfields and MRM lodged a complaint with ombud Johan Retief.
