Earlier this month former Steinhoff CEO Markus Jooste managed to sidestep responsibility for the financial collapse\u00a0of the global retailer during a three-hour Parliamentary inquiry.<\/p>\n
Jooste resigned from Steinhoff in December just as revelations of alleged “accounting irregularities” emerged\u00a0\u2014\u00a0<\/span>and the retailer’s stock crashed by more than 60% overnight.<\/p>\n In a flash, the Public Investment Corporation, which invests the Government Employees Pension Fund, lost billions.<\/p>\n Something smells bad, so we’re going to dig into this a little deeper.<\/p>\n We’re investigating Jooste’s relations with George Evans & Malcolm King, offshore dudes at ground zero of #Steinhoff<\/a>.
