Help us do more. <a href=\"https:\/\/amabhungane.org\/be-an-amab-supporter\/\">Be an amaB supporter.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>This followed Shivambu pleading poverty early in the year and asking VBS\u2019 liquidator for leeway to repay only R5 000 per month.<\/p>\n<p>A week later, on 20 September, Shivambu found another R1.4-million to settle all his debt, <a href=\"https:\/\/amabhungane.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Invoice-showing-final-payment.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">new court papers show<\/a>. This was the day the Johannesburg high court was going to make its order on the liquidation application. A few days later, on 25 September, <a href=\"https:\/\/amabhungane.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/proof-of-final-interest-payment.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">his attorneys paid over a residual interest charge<\/a> of R41 696.<\/p>\n<p>This now extinguishes Shivambu\u2019s debt, but the source of his sudden wealth remains unclear.
